Acrobatic Network

A place for acrobatic athletes, coaches and club owners to meet.

My daughter Brooke injured her elbow / arm in practice last night.
She has a Complex Elbow Dislocation. Please keep her in your prayers,
she was practicing to compete on May 2nd as a level nine mixed pair and
now they will not make it. Please remember those who have a great love
for this sport which she does and lift her up in your thoughts. God Bless.

Victoria,
Thank you for making your request known. I have prayed for her this morning. Not only for healing but also wisdom in her training to expedite that healing. God bless you, too. If she needs this meet as a qualifier, you can petition an exemption to go on to State and Regionals due to injury provided she demonstrated that she had already earned the qualifying score at previous meets. I had one pair that made only the two locals meets, skipped State and went to Regionals because their scores were high enough to demonstrate that they had already met the requirements for States and Regionals.

Yes,

I am hopeful, Anna Smirnova is her coach, but when the injury occurred she was away
in Russia. She is suppose to be coming back later today sometime as I will speak to
her. My biggest concern however is the nature of the injury that she may not have the
strenght in her joint/elbow to move forward with high level skills. Have any of your
athletes every had this "type" injury before and how long was their recovery?
I don't think she will be ready to compete again until Regionals that is an agressive goal... They only have one local meet under their belt and they scored: 47.40.
Can they then get an exemption from a 2nd local and then also from State?

I don't know. The rules have changed since I had a competitive program. The injury I referred to was a back injury to Jill. She wore a back brace, but after Nationals that was her last season. Fortunately for me, her injury had nothing to do with Acro. At that time I petitioned Jola Jones, but I think she is now retired.

Brook's complicated elbow injury sounds quite serious. There may be some therapy that the doctor might order and he may provide some kind of elbow support, but this sounds like a tough call.

Since Anna left TSR, I hope she has more training time she can give the kids. I know Dave had her working the Artisitic program, so her time was strapped. I am in a cheerleading facility myself, but they won't let me open up classes that might interfere with their cheer program, nor will they let me put in equipment that might take up more space. So I suspect that you all face something similar in your place.

Good luck, Victoria. I would love to stay informed.

Thanks for taking the time to discuss this with me. It helps to talk things out.
I will keep you informed when I know more. She took a CT scan today and we are going back Wednesday, since the Orthopedic guy is in Surgery all day Tuesday...hope to find out more, but I tend to agree that the elbow is a bad
place to have an injury. Talk to you later......
Anna is still running her own Artistic and Acro programs now for TAAG.
She is a busy busy person.

Sorry to hear that Brooke hurt herself. Hope her healing is quick!

Thank you for your reply. She had surgery last night and is recovering now. She hopes to be back in the gym as soon as possible, but her well being and health has to come first.
